Certified Organic

We are Now Certified Organic!
This last week we received official notice from Organic Certifiers, Inc., that we have passed the review and inspection and have been approved for USDA National Organic Program certification. That means that someone has checked our claim that we use only natural and healthy methods for growing our crops.  You'll see the organic "seal" on our advertising materials and you can be assured that we are indeed chemical and pesticide free.

The Battle of the Bugs
Since we use no chemicals to control pests, we need to be creative when fighting the battle of the bugs. To keep aphids under control, we use a combination of "weapons".  We have introduced two beneficial insects that eat aphids, we spray a bacteria on the plants that is toxic only to bugs like aphids, and when the aphids are becoming a real pain, we spray with water twice a day to knock them off and drown them.  All this to make sure that your food is clean and ready to eat!

Did You Know?
The national organic standards address the methods, practices and substances used in producing and handling crops, livestock and processed agricultural products. The standards specify that, in general, all natural (non-synthetic) substances are allowed in organic production and all synthetic substances are prohibited. (source).
